fish·wife

noun
1. a coarse-mannered woman who is prone to shouting.
2. a woman who sells fish.

During the 1940s, my great grandmother made a living as a fishwife. She boasted a loud and coarse-mannered exterior, but worked hard every day to bring freshly-caught fish from the pier to the inland market to support her family. Much has changed since then, but our standards for quality have not. Most of our seafood is now flown from dock to table within 24 hours, so our ingredients are always fresh. We are strong believers in traceability, sustainability and maintaining our planet's ecological balance.

Bringing New England style seafood with a twist to the West Coast, Fishwives of Pasadena offers a variety of oysters and shellfish, a wine and beer list that complements seafood, and an easygoing, good-spirited atmosphere.
